Fairy Tal Knights.... the healing process....

So, I know it has been a little while since my last post. For anyone keeping up with things here and not via Face Book or Instagram, you didn't miss a lot lol. I have still been working on the book, as well as prepping things to mail out, keeping up with the different aspects of the campaign rewards, reading the scipt multiple times to make sure it flows how myself and Jerale envision it, then reading it more to make sure the panels flow as they should with the dialogue, and then of course the actual artwork. But  these past 3 weeks have been a lot less productive than they were on schedule to be. In the picture above, if you look close, there is a yellow item in front of one of the promo displays I have for FTK. That item is Malia's recently removed cast from her falling and fracturing her arm. This happened in a matter of seconds that felt like decades of pain and suffering at the time. As a arent you want to protect your kids from pain, from everything, and when you can't.... well... you feel a little lost for a second. She fell running and playing as kids often do, but it doesn't make the situation at the time feel any better. Maybe 20 minutes before it happened, she asked me to continue playing "grocery" and "kitchen" with her. But I told her I needed to finish up some work for the day and so she went on to play with her stuff animals and relax. Not to long later, she had tripped and fell. The scream she let out was something indescribable for me. In seconds she was up and saying she was ok, but the look on her face, and hard time she was having moving her arm said otherwise.... so we went to the doctor. I won't go too much deeper into the experience from here,  due to it being hard to endure and watch my little girl in soo much pain.  In the book, we deal with the balance of her being a warrior at her core, but still being an actual child, who has feelings, and who endures pains and realities of the world(s). You don't see the hardships of those who love her dealing with watching her grow up and endure these things. Not in this book anyway.....

Needless to say, she adjusted and so did we as parents.  I struggled with posting about it all on social media, because that's not my thing. My private life is... well... private. I am doing a book about my little girl being a hero with here brother, but that doesn't mean display our personal to the social media world. I have a hard time making super private announcements in that way. Not that there is anything wrong with it for others, for some it is therapeutic,  it may help them to see that people car, for me it just isn't my way. My struggle, however, came from knowing that I was going to fall behind on working on the book, and that I needed to let people know what the hold up was. Currently I am more than 3 weeks behind schedule. I took almost 2 weeks off from doing anything other than a few warm up sketches, or things I could do and still be in complete range of Malia to help her with the bathroom, eating, and simply adjusting to the temp cast, and then the longer term cast she had to have. I worked around her as much as possible, but really just focused on making sure she was comfortable and ok. As she got more adjusted to cast life, i slowly worked more things into my day with her still being at the center. This included some client work and commissions. The book is beyond important to me, and being behind doesn't just mean the book is late for you who supported, it means it's delayed for her and my son, for me, and for the things I am working to line up for when it is released. But that is minor to me in the overall. None of this is more important than my family....

So ultimately I decided to do a post here, this keeps who sees it limited to those who are following for the book. It keeps things private enough, but shares enough to let it be known where things are. I am happy to report, that I am back working on the book again, the last script revisions for the first 4 chapters are being tweaked, a few page and panel changes made, and the last 2 chapters are underway. The book is looking like it will surpass my original 120 pages and reach a little higher. I am trimming some things here and there, but at the least, you will have that 120 pages, more than likely, a bit more lol.  SOooooOoo, please just keep baring with me as I get this back on track and push to get a bit further along.  Malia is out of here cast as of this week, she is now adjusting to having her arm free again, and getting use to using it as she did before. She is happy she can scratch her arm freely now!!  So there you have my story, well my real life one, the book story is coming,
Bare with me as we get there!!

Welcome.....

So..... I would like to take a second to again thank all who support this project.  I haven't had much time to do certain things that I would like to do, such as make a super fancy website, But I have put this site/ blog together to at least have a central place to update the happenings of the book. As i type this, a million other things are going on, but I wanted to get some art from the book up, and give the update i have been promising.  So first things first...... when will the book be in your hands...... short answer, April.  I had hoped for earlier, but I am simply still working on the book.  I could move this along faster if I cut corners on the artwork, or if I could bring on a colorist, which currently I can't afford to, so April looks like the current safe time frame. Trust that I want this book done as much as some of you may, so that I can focus on promoting it and making it bigger and getting more people behind it, and most importantly so I can make my little girl happy.  But I have to take the time to do it as good as I currently know how to. I have over thought many pages, redrawn others, but it is all due to wanting to make this book great.  At least as great as I know how to. So every few weeks or so, i will post more pages, or sketches, or cover samples, or something related to this book. Some times the post may be weekly, other times it may be every other week. It will all depend on time and what I have that gives more insight without giving too much away from the story.  So as of this post, April looks like the date for the books arrival. I promise if I can make it happen sooner, I will......

Next, other items from the campaign.....

As mentioned in a prior email, anyone who ordered the book along with other items such as t shirts, original art from the book, posters, bookmarks, figures, etc, you will get those items shipped once the books are ready to ship, unless it's safer to package certain items separate to keep them from being damages. In that case, once I have all the items that are to ship alone ready and packaged, they will begin to go out. Some people have received shirts already, some posters have gone out, and others will follow over the next few weeks.   Leading into February.  So i am pushing to get as much mailed out as possible over the next few weeks. Part of this process is checking and rechecking and making sure I have all items accounted for. I have some who supported more than once, so I had to make sure I had everything in place. Than I also have had people support at shows. So just trying to make sure I have everything in place.....

As I get things more in order I will begin reaching out to some to verify addresses if they weren't given, and if you have had a change in address, etc, please update me via email @ mailtoarebel@gmail.com.  I also don't have a few character reference pictures from some who paid to have an appearance in the story. I will reach out for this info again in weeks to come. What I have done so far, is leavr what i call place holders for some characters. This way i can still get them in before finalizing pages. However, please understand, if you are reading this, and haven't gotten me images, or let me know what you have in mind, please contact me ASAP. You definitely don't have to wait for my email!!

Other than that, I just again want to thank all who have helped get things to this point.  More to come!!
